What we can do
Bodice and support
We’ll fit the bust, waist and hips, adjust the straps and look at cups, boning and the neckline. Every gown is built differently, so we’ll check how yours is made before recommending anything.
Hems, lace and bustles
We set the length with your wedding shoes on, working around each layer and any lace border. Want to dance all night? Ask us about a bustle to lift the train for the reception.
Sleeves, closures and embellishments
Dreaming of sleeves, a lace-up back or another design change? Bring your ideas. We can also secure loose beads and repair delicate details. The fabric and construction decide what’s possible, and we’ll be honest with you from the start.
The wedding party
We also alter bridesmaid dresses, mother-of-the-bride and groom outfits, suits, flower girl dresses and page boy outfits. Everyone gets their own fitting and quote. Kids’ outfits can be adjusted close to the date, so they still fit on the day.
Fittings and timing
Get in touch with your chosen shop early and tell us your wedding date. Bring the shoes and undergarments you’ll wear. Once we’ve seen the dress, we’ll plan the work, any extra fittings and your pickup together.
Fabrics and heirloom gowns
We work with silk, chiffon, tulle, lace and heavily beaded gowns, as well as vintage and heirloom dresses. Delicate older fabrics get extra care, and we can modernise a style while keeping the sentimental details that matter to you.
How much does it cost?
Layers, lace, beading, train length, bodice structure and the number of fitting changes all affect bridal pricing.
Every gown is different, so we quote bridal work after seeing your dress. Layers, lace, embellishments, construction and the number of fittings vary too much for a one-price or per-layer guide.
Bring it in and we’ll take a look, talk you through the work and confirm your price before you leave it with us. If you have matching fabric, buttons or measurements, bring those too.
From the first fitting to the big day
Your first bridal fitting
Bring the dress, the shoes and undergarments you’ll wear, and any accessories that change the fit. Tell us your wedding date, any travel plans and which changes matter most to you. We’ll look at the bodice, waist, hem, straps or sleeves, and talk about the lace, beading and train. Inspiration photos are a great help for design changes, and we’ll be honest about what your gown’s construction allows.
The plan and your final fitting
Once we’ve seen the gown, we’ll explain the alterations, the price and your fitting plan. Some gowns need more than one fitting, especially when several parts of the fit are changing. At the final fitting, sit, walk and move around, not just stand in front of the mirror. We’ll show you how your bustle and fastenings work so you’re ready on the day.
Alterations for the wedding party
We also alter bridesmaid dresses, outfits for the mother of the bride or groom, suits and kids’ wedding outfits. Everyone gets their own fitting. Call the shop with the number of outfits and the date, and we’ll plan fittings and pickups that work for everyone.

Your questions
Do I need an appointment?
Walk-ins are always welcome. For a bridal fitting, a quick call first means we can chat about your dress and find a time that suits you.
Can you alter a dress bought online?
Of course. Bring it in and we’ll look at how it’s made and what it needs, then talk you through what’s possible.
Can you give a price from a photo?
A photo is a great way to start the conversation, but for an accurate quote we’ll need to see the dress on you.
Can you make my dress bigger?
In most cases, if there’s enough seam allowance. A dress can usually be let out by about one size. Bring it in and we’ll check what’s possible.
Can you add sleeves or straps?
Yes. We can add sleeves, cap sleeves or straps to a strapless dress, and work with you to find matching fabric or lace.
How many fittings will I need?
Complex bridal alterations usually need two to three fittings: a first consultation, a fitting partway through and a final fitting. Simpler work needs a first fitting and a final try-on.
Can you add or change a bustle?
Yes. Bring your gown in and tell us how you’d like to manage the train. We’ll look at its weight, layers and details, recommend a bustle and show you how it works.
Can you keep the lace or beading when you shorten my dress?
Usually. We look at how the decoration is attached and how much length needs to come off. Keeping a border can mean extra work, and your quote covers the gown’s actual layers and details.
Should I buy my shoes before the hem fitting?
If you can, yes! A different heel height changes the length you need, so it’s best to settle on your shoes before we finalise the hem. Still deciding? Have a chat with us.
How long will the work take, and is express available?
Bridal work usually takes 2–4 weeks, depending on what your dress needs, so leave plenty of time before the big day. Short on time? Express bridal work can be done within a week for an extra fee, and we’ll confirm availability and the fee with you. Just tell us your deadline. Express rates are 30% for same-day, 20% for next-day and 10% for two-day work, or 40% for same-day and 30% for next-day on Saturdays. Express depends on how busy we are, so we’ll confirm it and your pickup time before we start.
