What we can do
Pants, jeans and jackets
From fly zips to heavy jacket zips, we’ll find a replacement that suits the length, weight and style of your garment.
Dresses, skirts and bridal wear
Invisible zips and delicate fabrics need careful lining up. We check the lining, seams and any decorative details before giving you a price.
Cushions and outdoor items
We replace zips in cushion covers and sleeping bags too. If the fabric around the zip is worn, we’ll tell you whether a new zip is worth it.
Finding a suitable zip
We stock jacket zips in many different lengths, in black and white only. For pants and dresses we carry a wider range of colours. If you want a specific colour or style, please source the zip before your visit to avoid disappointment.
How much does it cost?
The zip type and length, lining, fabric and how easy the zip is to reach all affect the price.

Repair the zip or replace it?
First, find what’s gone wrong
A loose seam holding the zip, a slider that catches and broken teeth all need different fixes. Try not to force or pull out the zip before you bring it in. We’ll check the zip and the fabric around it, then tell you whether a quick repair will do or a new zip is the better choice. Repairs and replacements are priced differently.
Garments, covers and specialist items
Trouser and jeans zips sit inside the fly and waistband, dresses often have a concealed zip, and jackets can have a lining and a longer zip. Each is a different job. We also replace zips in cushion covers and other textiles. For bridal wear, sleeping bags or unusual zips, give us a call first, and check the length, colour and type with us before buying your own.
Your questions
Does a broken zip always need replacing?
Not always! Sometimes a quick repair does the trick. We’ll take a look and recommend the right fix.
Can you add a zip where there isn’t one?
Often, yes. We’ll check that a new zip suits how the garment is made and how you want to wear it.
Do I need to bring a replacement zip?
Not usually. We stock black and white jacket zips in many lengths, and a wider range of colours for pants and dresses. If you want a specific colour or style, source it first to avoid disappointment. Its length, type and the way it opens need to suit the item, so bring it in and we’ll check it against the garment.
Can you replace an invisible dress zip?
Yes. We’ll look at the zip, fabric, lining and nearby seams. It’s a different job from a trouser fly or jacket zip, so the trouser and jacket prices above don’t apply to dress zips.
Will the new zip match the old one exactly?
Not always. We’ll find a suitable replacement and point out any differences before we start, especially on vintage clothes or unusual colours and hardware.
How long will the work take, and is express available?
Most simple jobs are ready in 3–5 days, and more complex work in 1–2 weeks. In a rush? Express options are available for an extra fee. Just tell us your deadline. Express rates are 30% for same-day, 20% for next-day and 10% for two-day work, or 40% for same-day and 30% for next-day on Saturdays. Express depends on how busy we are, so we’ll confirm it and your pickup time before we start.
