Manchester & household textile alterations

Your linen cupboard deserves some love too. We resize and repair bed linen, pillowcases, cushion covers and table linen, so the pieces you already have fit your home.

What we can do

Bed linen and pillowcases

Change the length or width, repair a seam or refinish an edge. Bring the finished measurements you need, as bed-size labels can vary.

Tablecloths and runners

Resize a tablecloth or reshape its edge to suit your table. Tell us how far you want it to hang and whether a border or detail needs to stay.

Cushion covers and fastenings

We can resize covers, replace zips and reinforce worn seams. We’ll look at the fabric and how it’s made before giving you a price.

Trims and other modifications

Want to add a trim, a lining or an extra panel? Bring the item in and we’ll talk through the options. Matching fabric and the item’s condition decide what’s possible.

Linings, pleats and bedspreads

We can add a protective lining to a tablecloth or a thermal lining to a bedspread for extra warmth, and add pleats or folds to suitable items. Thick bedspreads are welcome; give us a call first with the size.

How much does it cost?

The size of the item, fabric condition, edge finishing, zips and the number of pieces all affect the price.

Household textiles vary in size, construction and finish. We’ll price the item and the work you agree on, and explain how it’s charged and any replacement parts.

Bring it in and we’ll take a look, talk you through the work and confirm your price before you leave it with us. If you have matching fabric, buttons or measurements, bring those too.

Bedding and household textiles

Resizing covers, sheets and table linen

Manchester covers household textiles such as bedding, cushion covers and table linen. Bring the item and the finished size you need, plus the insert or a sample if it helps explain the fit. We look at the seams, hems, closures and borders before suggesting a resize. The fabric available decides whether something can go bigger as well as smaller.

Repairing the parts that wear out

Loose seams, worn corners and broken zips or button closures can often be fixed without replacing the whole thing. We check the fabric around the damage before suggesting a repair or reinforcement. Got something bulky or a custom change in mind? Call first with the size and what you’d like done.

Your questions

Can bed linen be made smaller?

Often, yes. We’ll check the seams, fitted edges and the size you need before we start.

Can you make an item larger?

If there’s enough fabric inside or you have matching extra fabric. You might see a join, and we’ll talk about how it will look.

Can you alter a cushion or quilt cover to fit an insert?

Yes. Bring the cover and the exact insert size, or the insert itself if you can. Tell us how snug you want it and which closure to keep.

Can worn corners or seams be strengthened?

Often, with reinforcement or a patch. A new seam or patch may show a little, especially where the fabric is worn, and we’ll show you how it’s likely to look.

What measurements should I bring?

The finished size you want, and whether it’s the outside of the item or the space inside it. Include any opening, overlap or closure you need, and we’ll go over them with you before we start.

How long will the work take, and is express available?

Most simple jobs are ready in 3–5 days, and more complex work in 1–2 weeks. In a rush? Express options are available for an extra fee. Just tell us your deadline. Express rates are 30% for same-day, 20% for next-day and 10% for two-day work, or 40% for same-day and 30% for next-day on Saturdays. Express depends on how busy we are, so we’ll confirm it and your pickup time before we start.
