What we can do
Vintage and pre-loved clothing
We’ll check the fit and condition of an older piece first, then talk about which original details you want to keep and where a change will help.
Necklines, collars and shoulders
Changing these can transform the whole character of a dress, top or jacket. How it’s made and the fabric available decide what we can do.
Length and silhouette
Reshape a skirt or dress, change the sleeves or adjust the fullness. Photos are a great way to show us the look you have in mind.
Details and embellishments
Buttons, trims, patches or other details you supply can change a piece completely. We’ll show you how they can be attached and how they’ll look.
A more sustainable wardrobe
Restyling keeps the clothes you already own in rotation, which means less waste. Ideas range from turning a long skirt into a mini dress to changing a high collar into a V-neck or boat neck.
How much does it cost?
The design changes, fabric condition, how much needs to be taken apart and rebuilt, the lining and any added materials all affect the price.
Restyling is priced as the set of changes we agree on. Fabric condition, construction, extra materials and fittings make a package price impossible.
Bring it in and we’ll take a look, talk you through the work and confirm your price before you leave it with us. If you have matching fabric, buttons or measurements, bring those too.
From idea to alteration
Start with what you love
A restyle might change a hem, sleeve, neckline or the whole silhouette, or update a vintage piece for the way you dress now. Bring the garment and some inspiration photos, and tell us which details matter to you. We’ll look at the fabric, construction, condition and any past alterations, then talk about what to keep and what to change.
Plan the changes together
Changing one part of a garment can affect the rest. A new neckline or strap can change the bodice fit, and a new length can move the pockets or a border. We’ll go through your ideas with you and work out any extra fabric, parts or fittings you’ll need. Have this chat with us before you buy materials or cut anything off.
Your questions
Can you completely remake an old garment?
We love a challenge! The original fabric and construction set some limits, so we’ll tell you honestly what’s possible before we start.
Should I cut or unpick it first?
Please don’t! Bring it in as it is, so we can see all the fabric and how it was originally made.
Can you copy a design from a photo?
A photo is the best way to show us the look you want. Whether we can get the same result depends on your garment’s construction and fabric, and we’ll be upfront about it before we start.
Is restyling the same as taking clothes in?
Not quite. Taking in changes the fit at certain seams. Restyling can also change the design, proportions, neckline, sleeves or details. Your price depends on the changes you choose.
Can a sentimental or vintage piece be modernised?
Yes, with plenty of care. Tell us what you want to keep, and we’ll talk about its condition, any marks that might show and the likely result. Some changes are hard to undo, so we agree on everything before we start.
How long will the work take, and is express available?
Most simple jobs are ready in 3–5 days, and more complex work in 1–2 weeks. In a rush? Express options are available for an extra fee. Just tell us your deadline. Express rates are 30% for same-day, 20% for next-day and 10% for two-day work, or 40% for same-day and 30% for next-day on Saturdays. Express depends on how busy we are, so we’ll confirm it and your pickup time before we start.
